Jacques Campau was the first of four children born to Jean Louis Campau (1702-1774) and Marie Louise Robert. Jacques, born March 30, 1735 in Detroit (Mich.) married Catherine Menard (died in 1781 or 1782) on Aug. 17, 1761. They had twelve children. He married Francoise Navarre, a widow, on Jan. 5, 1784.
